12 Tips To Become A Successful Blogger
Create Original & Quality Content
No one will come to your blog if you can’t create high-quality content. Without great content, it’s not possible to get any visitors. We can say, a great content is that which solves the problem of many people.
One thing you should never do is to copy from other blogs. Copying from other blogs can ruin your blog. Stealing content from other blogs have many demerits and you should never think about it.
Write great unique content and your blog will increase in popularity.
Remember, Content is the King!
In simple words, if you want to become a successful blogger it’s important to know how to create high-quality content for your readers.
Focus On SEO
So, you have written a damn great piece of content which you think is the best ever written blog post in the history of blogging. Guess what? It doesn’t matter if you can’t get anyone to read it.
It’s useless to have great blog posts when there is no one to read them. So, what’s the best way to get visitors?
It is SEO ( Search Engine Optimization ). Every successful blogger knows the value of doing proper SEO. Believe it, getting visitors through social media is easy but they are not 100% interested in reading your content.
When a visitor comes through a search engine like Google they are looking for a solution to their problem, they want to know about something. And when they click on your blog link they want to find a solution to get out of their problem.
Make sure to put an effort into doing proper SEO ( On-Page & Off-Page ) on your blog.
Invest In Your Blog
When we start a blog we think that we should save every single penny we can. You may think it’s a good idea to not hire a designer and design your website by yourself. But that’s wrong.
You will end up making your website look like crap. Money spent wisely isn’t an expense, it’s an investment.
One thing that you should remember is that you can’t do everything by yourself. Sure, you should also not hire someone every time you need to do something when you’re low on budget.
Successful people invest in their work. Hiring right people for the right work can be one of the best investment someone can make. An investment of few hundred dollars can go a long way.
In simple words, Investment is necessary if you want to look like a Pro. You need to invest.
Find The Perfect Niche
Finding the perfect niche (a topic that you want to blog about) is one of the most important factors that determine whether your blog is going to be successful or not.
Choosing the perfect topic to blog about is necessary for any blogger. You should choose a niche in which you have an interest.
A common trait among successful bloggers is that they have chosen a niche in which they have deep knowledge. They almost never run out of ideas to share with other people.
Sure, there are a lot of niches to choose from. Pick the niche in which you think you’re the best. For example, if you know about drawing then you can start a blog on teaching other people about how to draw.
When starting a blog, take your time and think about what you’re good at. There isn’t any need to rush while choosing the perfect niche.
Read.. A Lot
Running a blog is the same as running a business. If you aren’t learning about it then you’re going to fall behind. Every successful person knows that they know nothing, they are always hungry for more knowledge and want to improve their skills.
And, what’s the best way to increase someone’s knowledge & skill? It’s by reading.
Reading is important for anyone’s success. Reading connects the ideas to what you already know. So, you might be thinking about what to read?
Read what the experts put on their blogs, learn from them and apply what you’ve learnt on your blog. Some of the blogs which I read are on –
Digital marketing from Neil Patel, Seth Godin, Digital Marketer, etc.
SEO from Brian Dean, MOz, etc.
WordPress from WP Beginner. etc.
Blogging & Affiliate Marketing from Harsh Agrawal, Pat Flynn, etc.
and many more…. this list is just a starting of blogs which I read in my free time. In simple words, I read whatever I find through a simple google search. I read about the same topic from 2-3 blogs to get a better understanding.
Engage Your Audience
Maybe you’re just chasing the numbers and forgetting about what really matters to build a successful blog. This is perhaps one of the biggest mistakes you’re making right now.
You’re too busy growing your email lists and fans, but forgetting about the most important thing. It’s your Audience that makes your blog successful. Without loyal readers a blog is nothing.
You can do all the things from providing free tips to giving away free tutorials. But if you can’t connect with your readers they won’t want to come back to your blog again on their own.
Now, there are many ways to engage with your audience. Some of the ways to engage with your audience are –
Write like you’re talking to them. Make use of I & You while writing.
Inspire them to take some kind of action. Write in such a way that they are implying the tips which you share.
and many more…. just remember it’s not only about you. It’s about you & your audience.
Give Away More Value
Before we get to the main point let me ask you a question. What do you mean by valuable content?
There’s no need to think much about it. Valuable content is the content that is useful and created for a specific audience. It’s the content which solves the problem of your audience. Just as you are here to know how to become a successful blogger.
YOU are my AUDIENCE. I am solving your problem. I am writing to you. My main is to provide more and more knowledge to you (so you’ll come back for more).
The only way to get more loyal readers is to add value to your content. There are tons of other blog posts about how to become a successful blogger. But I’m trying to make my content better than others (That’s adding more value which you’ll find only here).
In simple words, create valuable content and then give away more value than others. Write your content like it should be the best.
Build Your Network
It’s great to visit blogs that are in the same niche. Build relationships with other bloggers by commenting on their blogs. You can interact with them and get some exposure.
While commenting on other blog post make sure you sound genuine. You shouldn’t be too cheesy or else it will look like you’re doing it for yourself. Make your comment of at least 80-100 words.
Ask questions, give suggestions and make sure that you’re making it conversational. The more you talk with others, the more they’ll understand you (or vice-versa).
You should also join Facebook, LinkedIn groups according to your niche. Interact with other people and share your thoughts with them. You will build your online presence.
While building your network you’ll also learn from others. Building your network is important. It’ll help you to get valuable suggestions and you can ask for help from others whenever you’re stuck.
Consistency Is Key
One of the most popular blogging success we hear every day is that you should “be consistent”. Successful bloggers are those who choose a topic carefully and stick to it. They stuck to a topic and divide it into sub-topics (categories).
Successful bloggers have a regular publishing schedule. They either publish 1 or 2 posts per week. Their reader knows when they will get a new blog post to read.
You have to improve daily. No one can achieve success overnight. It even took Messi 17 years and 114 days to become an overnight success.
It takes years to become a consistent blogger. It’s impossible to happen over some days. Be persistent and you’ll be in that place where you want to be.
Remember, “Rome wasn’t built in a day”.
Being consistent means being able to have the same kind of writing style, blog posts, and schedule to post them. I also try to publish blog posts in 5 to 6 days. My all blog posts have 300 to 400-word intro. I try to add at least one image in every blog post.
Take your time in creating stunning blog posts and publish them with the same frequency.
Create Products
Earning money from a blog through Affiliate marketing, sponsorships and advertisements are great. But it makes you too much dependent on other companies. You can’t have the freedom to create the type of content you want to.
You don’t even have any control over how much you can make through other revenue streams. The best way to create an income is to make your own products. E-Products are your own, you have full control over them.
You can create e-products like ebooks, courses, apps, etc. Only you can decide what their price will be. It’s easier to set the price according to what your readers are willing to pay.
It’s easy to create your own products if you know about –
What you’re passionate about. What your audience wants. How to market your product.
What you can earn from your own products is way too much comparing to other companies products. But, it’s only possible when you’ve built many loyal readers. Only when your product is valuable and solves their problem they’re going to spend their money.
Blogger Outreach
Blogger outreach is one of the best ways to gain exposure for your blog. It is the best way to connect with top bloggers in your industry.
It means getting noticed by top bloggers in your niche and asking them to share your content on their blogs. If you can get any one of the top bloggers to share your blog post then you’ll for sure get many visitors.
You can get their attention by sharing their content and commenting on their blogs. It’s important that you also have well-written blog posts. Only when you have great content they’ll even think to share them.
When they start to notice you, you may ask them to check out your best-written blog post through email. However, asking influencers to share your blog posts is very time-consuming.
If done correctly – blogger outreach – can get you a lot of traffic and increase your brand visibility.
Grow Your Email List
Believe it or not, email marketing is still the best. With emails, it’s much easier to get close to your readers. It builds trust and it’ll help change your readers to your potential buyers.
Growing an email list should be the top priority of bloggers. The ROI that email marketing gives is huge. Some people who say email marketing is dead, maybe they have never tried it.
There are many benefits of having an email list. You can get free traffic by notifying your subscribers whenever you publish a new post. You can tell about exciting deals and discounts.
Now, you might be thinking about how to grow your email list?
If you’re using WordPress, you just need to install email list building plugins. Some of the best email list building plugins are Thrive Leads, Bloom, OptinMonster, etc.
